Erle Bårdsdatter Sæther will be the new producer at Riddu Riđđu!

If you have taken a look at Riddu Riđđu's program for 2023, you may have noticed something new: namely the conversation series Lávvosáhka, simply translated to The conversation in the lávvu.

Riddu Riđđu festivála's Indigenous film program marks its 20th anniversary this year. The Urfilm program has a tradition of highlighting Indigenous filmmakers and films with an Indigenous theme, often in short film format.

The band's male members have received permission from the Ukrainian government to go on an international tour, and now it is finally clear that the Ukrainian band Go_A will play at this year's Riddu Riđđu festivála.

Chilean Ana Tijoux is a fearless and not least politically engaged Indigenous rapper. She has been named the best rapper in Spanish by The Rolling Stones magazine, and declared the most important Latin American rapper in an international context by Newsweek magazine.

The young artist of the year 2023 is filmmaker Mihkkal Hætta, 22, from Kautokeino. He cites David Lynch and Ingmar Bergman as sources of inspiration, and now wants to add a completely new genre to the ever-growing selection of Sámi films.

Riddu Riđđu Festivála aims to encourage artistic development amongst young Sámi artists and create a platform for them to reach national and international audience.

The long-standing collaboration between Riddu Riđđu Festivála and Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF) continues when the latter takes places 16-21. January.

Riddu Riđđu invites Indigenous filmmakers to send films for consideration for our film programme. Both fiction and documentaries can be sent, but cannot be longer than 30 min.
