Biru Baby to Riddu Riđđu
The Sami electro-punk band Biru Baby will play at this summer's Riddu Riđđu. They will also give the audience a taste of their bizarre and brilliant live show during the festival's program launch in Tromsø on May 25th.
Biru Baby has slowly but surely built an underground fan base and a reputation as one of Norway's best live bands. They are known to mix genres in their music, and manage to get it both pompous and catchy, which has aroused interest in music Norway. They describe themselves as "a revolutionary band of bizarre style and a unique sound from the ice-cold steps of Finnmark".
After a fireworks of a concert at Riddu Riđđu in 2014, the band is now ready with a new album and excited to repeat the success at the Riddu-stage; "The whole Biru Crew is hyped to get the joine lavvu party at Riddu Riđđu!" Says vocalist Hánná. "We have just released our new album" Ancient Call "and Riddu Riđđu has also given us the pleasure of giving Tromsø people a taste of the album live at Driv 25th May! In July we will be back to fill Manndalen with the sound of Biru Baby! BIRU BABYYYY! "
In recent years, the band has focused on developing their artistic expression in a mix of EP releases, music videos and surrealistic live performances. At the industry festival Trondheim Calling in 2016, Biru Baby was named the most eccentric feature act, and received the unofficial title "winner of the festival" among industry people, journalists and the audience.
Festivals director Karoline Trollvik says; «Biru Baby is one of Sápmis's best live bands! They channel "girl power" and know how to entertain their audience. It's going to get lit; both at the Driv stage and at the Riddu stage and we are looking forward!
