Electric Pow Wow on the Riddu-plain
Urban “A Tribe Called Red” aren't satsified with being DJ’s, they also bring a VJ. Video is also the koncept for Saami Elle Márjá Eira, whom is ready for this years Riddu Riđđu festival.
Audiovisual concert
Together with movie creator Ken-Are Bongo, Elle Márjá Eira has created a concert koncept that gives the audience something extraordinary. Through the genius combination of great film and lovely music people are invited into Eiras life, where reindeer herding and the relationship to nature are key. Elle Márjá Eira says that her driving force to create music is the wish to contribute to preserve the precious tradition, and the cultural and lingual treasures.
- Elle Márjá Eira is an artist who takes a big responsability through her art and we need artists like her, says festival director Kirsti Lervoll. This Easter will she realease her debute album "Iđitsilba", which means morning silver.
Electric Pow Wow
Video is also an important instrument for the First Nation group who will bring Electric Pow Wow to the Riddu-plain. And Lervoll does not hesitate to call them this years faves. A Tribe Called Red creates big waves internationally with their unique mix, where the use of video is as central as the music itself. -A Tribe Called Red from the capital of Canada is the newest within indigenous music. Their expression is modern, yet they have managed to mix traditional Pow Wow-music with urban electronica. We are putting up for a Pow Wow before the Riddu-stage, says Lervoll.
A coming star

With stages like Márkomeannu and Festspill in Northern Norway, she has already at age 19 many fans in Sápmi. -Talk about discovering a rare gem, Barruk deserves all the attention she can get for her talent, says Lervoll who asks all to write themselves up for the dates of this years Riddu Riđđu, which is 9.-13.July.
