NORTHERN PEOPLE OF THE YEAR – SIX NATIONS OF GRAND RIVER
Every year Riddu Riđđu invites a northern people to visit us. This year's Northern People are Six Nations from the Grand River in Canada. Six Nations, also known under the French name Iroquois Federation, calls themselves "Hai de no sau nee" which means "The people who build Long House". Six Nations consists today of Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Seneca and Tuscarora who all live within the reservation by the Grand River.
This year we have invited the following artists; Six Nations Womans Singers, the dance group Tribal Visions, art and filmmaker Shelley Niro and actor Cheri Maracle. Together, the artists will take us to the banks of the Grand River.
