Open for Nominations: Buošši Prize 2025
Riddu Riđđu Festivála and the Center for Northern People will award the Buošši Prize during this year’s Riddu Riđđu Festival. The Buošši Prize is a cultural award presented to individuals, teams, or organizations that have made a positive contribution to promoting Sea Sámi language and culture—either through their work or by being a role model.
We are now accepting nominations for potential recipients. The nominee(s) must have a connection to Northern Troms: Kåfjord, Storfjord, Lyngen, Nordreisa, Kvænangen, or Karlsøy.
Sajje Solbakk, festival director at Riddu Riđđu Festivála, encourages people to submit nominations:
“The Buošši Prize is about lifting up our own. Do you know a passionate person in your community working to preserve Sea Sámi culture? This will be the fourth time the prize is awarded—and we need your nomination!”
Svein O. Leiros, director of the Center for Northern People, also emphasizes the importance of the award:
“We believe this prize is important for highlighting and honoring passionate individuals in our region. Their dedication to Sea Sámi culture has great significance for all of us. We hope for many nominations again this year!”
The prize is awarded annually at the Riddu Riđđu Festival, and the winner receives NOK 10,000.
Submit your nomination and reasoning to buossi@riddu.no by the deadline: June 17, 2025.
It is a great honor to present this award. Over the past three years, it has been given to deserving recipients who have received well-earned recognition for their positive contributions to Sea Sámi language and culture.
