Resirkulert announced for Riddu Riđđu festival
The Tromsø-based band Resirkulert is a favourite among the Riddu Riđđu audience. This summer they will return to the Riddu Riđđu stage, and promises premiers on several new songs!
With their joy for playing and musical talent, Resirkulert has gained attention since their beginning in 2012. In the fall, they released the long-awaited debut album " Du snakke for dæ sjøl "(You talk for yourself), and charmed the critics.
With both surreal and serious lyrics, combined with danceable rhythms and harmonious melodies, the band has created a separate segment in the Norwegian-language music landscape. Vocalist Emil Karlsen from Storfjord has also proved to be a great joiker in the making, with a strong desire to promote his Sami legacy. Resirkulert promises joik from the Riddu Riđđu stage this year, and vocalist Karlsen says himself;
"My first meeting with joik was at the Riddu Festival when I was small. Over the years, interest has increased, and in the past year I have several pathfinders and teachers to thank for the fact that I have been able to dive deeper in this. At Riddu this year I will joik my áddjá; grandfather. He has been like a father to me all the way and still is in many ways, so who deserves a joke more than him? It's also great to be able to honor someone while they are still alive and not just after one's time".
The band is renowned for their energetic live performances, with a high sing-along factor and low threshold to wobble more than just the rock foot. Before the summer they will release even more new music and a happy festival manager Karoline Trollvik says;
"It's a fantastic thing to be able to book local band like Resirkulert, who have grown solid and established in a short period of time. The boys have self-esteem and make music with strong messages that are very easy to like. I think many in our local audience will be excited that Resirkulert is returning to us, they have won many hearts North-Troms and promote our coastal Sami culture in an excellent way. "
