Spellemann Award-winner Niilas to Riddu Riđđu

Today Riddu Riđđu announces two exciting names for this summer's festival. Sea Sámi electronica artist Niilas and the Finnmark band Pil & Bue will play on the main stage.

Peder Niilas Tårnesvik is one of the most interesting electronics artists and producers in Norway. He recently played for Queen Sonja of Norway, and now he is returning to his Kåfjord roots, to give the Riddu Riđđu audience a royal experience.

His album "Also This Will Change" has been critically acclaimed, with newspapers such as Aftenposten and Bergens Tidende giving it top score in their reviews. The album also won the Spellemann Price (equivalent to the Grammy's) for Electronics of the Year.

Niilas has an ear for details like few others, where he mixes genres, expressions and musical emotions in his very own soundscape. He uses field recordings, samples, live and digital instruments, with a touch of his Sámi background that creates a unique and exciting sound.

Heavyrock to Riddusletta

The hard-hitting band Pil & Bue travels from Finnmark to Riddu Riđđu with heavy rock in their luggage. The band released the album "The world is a rabbit hole" in 2021, after taking a couple of years off. Their soundscape with fluttering rhythmic patterns, references to post-rock, dynamic monumentality and elements of vulnerability and desperation has forced critics to give them their highest scores. Impressingly, another album is expected to be released in November 2022. The Riddu audience is asked to prepare themselves for a concert with one of Norway's most hard-hitting, hard-working and energetic live bands.

Riddu Riđđu has an exciting program with many big names. Africa's top diva, and five-time Grammy Awards winner, Angelique Kidjo plays on Saturday 16.7. Fan favorites The Halluci Nation - formerly known A Tribe Called Red- plays the night before. Festival director Sandra Márjá West is looking forward to her last festival: “It's going to feel amazing to create a full festival again!
