This year's art exhibition contains two different exhibitions with young indigenous artists.

CHIPPEWAR
Multimedia artist Jay Soule, also known by the artistic name CHIPPEWAR, belongs to the indigenous people Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (Deshkaan Ziibing Anishinaabeg). The name “Chippewar” refers to the hostile relationship between Canada indigenous peoples and the government of the country they have inhabited long before the government was created. The name also encourages to fight, and so Jay continues the warrior role, like many indigenous cultures in North America have done, with his art. In addition to his visual art, Jay works in clothing design. Much of the year he travels to powwows to show his art and clothes. Chippewars homepage here. 

GIERESVUODAJN

Gieresvuodajn/With love is an exhibition of duodji, Sámi handicraft, made by the graduates at Sámij åhpadusguovdásj, a Sámi education for handicraft, in Jokkmokk. Here you can see traditional and contemporary duodji at it’s best, in a variety of techniques from many different areas in Sápmi.
