Mongolian folk tunes with a twist of klezmer.
A new contribution to this summer’s Riddu Riđđu is the musical collaboration between the Mongolian singer Urna and the Polish klezmerband Kroke.
Urna Chahar Tugchi grew up on the grasslands of Mongolia, but chose early on to pursue a professional career in music. She has brought traditional Mongolian music to an international audience for a decade already, and is considered one of the most prominent singers of Asia.
The trio Kroke started their musical career playing jazzclubs in Kazimerz, the jewish quarter in Krakow, and gained an important international fan when Steven Spielberg was introduced to their music during the shooting of “Schindlers List”. That resulted in a world tour and they quickly became a success. The band has, contributed to soundtracks such as the David Lynch film Inland Empire.
Urnas incredible voice and tender melodies are energized in harmony with the klezmer rhytms. This will without doubt be a spectacular musical experience!
