Mongolian superstars to play at Riddu Riđđu
True to tradition, the mountains in Kåfjord will yet again echo throat songs when Riddu Riđđu commences.
The critically acclaimed Inner-Mongolian band Hanggai has charmed audiences at festivals around the world since their debut album in 2008. Even if the melodies, most of the instruments and the vocal techniques are traditional, and some horse whines can be heard here and there, there is a clear modern sound to their music.
Festival director Karoline Trollvik says: « This will be one of the festival highlights this year. Hanggai’s music is an enchanting mix between traditional mongolian music and rock. This band delivers a performance that suits everyone!
In 2015 Hanggai won «Sing my song», one of Chinas equivalents to the music television contest «The Voice», and has since reaches greater fame in China and abroad. A new album is expected from the band in 2016.
The festival director ends with a promise to this year’s audience; «The Riddu-field will escalate when Hanggai with their horse-head fiddles, el guitars and strong voices takes the stage. An experience you won´t forget.
