Riddu Riđđus showcase “Experience Sápmi” at Reeperbahn Festival
Together with the management Hedline Arts, Riddu Riđđu has organized the first-ever Sámi showcase at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg this week.
The Reeperbahn Festival is Europe’s largest showcase festival and is one of the continent’s most important platforms for artists looking to reach the German and European markets.
On Wednesday, September 18, the Reeperbahn Festival kicked off in Hamburg, Germany, allowing us to present the showcase "Experience Sápmi." Through this showcase, industry professionals and audience had the chance to experience three of Sápmi's most exciting artists right now: Emil Kárlsen, Niilas and Katarina Barruk.
When Emil Kárlsen took the stage as the first artist, the venue was already packed. The audience flocked in, and unfortunately, some had to turn away at the door as there simply wasn’t room for more. "Experience Sápmi" became an evening where we shared top-tier music with a broad audience ready to listen.
Riddu Riđđu is experiencing a growing demand for Sámi music and regularly receives inquiries from both national and international collaborators seeking to work with Sámi artists. The music scene in Sápmi has not only grown significantly in recent years but has also developed into a diverse landscape with a wide range of genres and artists to choose from. Organizing a showcase at one of Europe’s largest showcase festivals is one of several ways Riddu Riđđu aims to meet this increasing demand.
The "Experience Sápmi" showcase would not have been possible without support from the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin, the Sámi Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Norway, Music Norway and Export Music Sweden. A big thank you to all our partners!
We would also like to extend a special thanks to our amazing artists, Katarina Barruk, Emil Kárlsen and Niilas. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art with us!
