Three additional acts ready for Riddu Riđđu 2015.
Sami jazz, Greenlandic indie and rock in north-norwegian will be heard at Riddu Riđđu in 2015.
Arvvas is the new musical collaboration between the joiker Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska and the base player and singer Steinar Raknes. Together, they create music inspired by jazz, joik and Americana. Gaup Beaska is known for mixing the traditional style of joiking with modern musical elements and genres. Raknes is one of Norways most acknowledge jazzmusicians, vocalists and songwriters. Both have been part of recognized Sami musical collaboration in previously.
“When we heard about this new collaboration between such excellent musicians as Raknes and Gaup Beaska, we knew that they would fit perfectly in our festival lineup” says festival director Karoline Tveitnes Trollvik.
They will be performing with a full band at Riddu Riđđu this summer.
Reflecting their own identity
Nanook played at Riddu Riđđu for the first time in 2010. With their energy and powerful message they managed to captivate the audience completely. This summer the indie-favourites from Greenland will finally return.
“Nanook is a band that is inspired by the landscape and environment that they have grown up within. Identity is a key theme in their lyrics, and they have chosen to sing in Greenlandic” says festival director Karoline Trollvik.
North-Norwegian rock in dialect
The up and coming band Resirkulert will also be performing at this year’s festival. Contrary to their young age, their passion for music and great talent have given them lots of attention. They`ve been compared to other acknowledged North-Norwegian acts such as Kråkesøv and Moddi. Recently they where picked, out of a competiton of over 1000 acts, to perform at this years By:Larm, the biggest music industry gathering in Norway.
“We are really looking forward to finally present Resirkulert from Storfjord on our main stage. They will blow our audience away and we are so impressed that they write their lyrics in dialect” concludes the festival director.
Jonas Nilsen in Resirkulert has said that “playing on the Riddu-stage has been our dream and goal since we began making music together. Finally we have the opportunity!”
