Riddu Riđđu hires new producer
Erle Bårdsdatter Sæther will be the new producer at Riddu Riđđu!
- Like coming home, says the 28-year-old.
Erle Bårdsdatter Sæther is employed as a new producer in the Indigenous festival Riddu Riđđu in Manndalen in Kåfjord. The 28-year-old from Harstad/Andøya comes from a position at UiT, and will start at the festival in the autumn.
- Riddu Riđđu has been important to me for several years. It is there that I have had some of my best cultural experiences, I have met some of my best friends there and I have learned a lot about Sámi, and especially Sea Sámi culture. I myself have Sámi ancestry from Northern Troms, so moving to Manndalen and going to work for Riddu Riđđu feels a bit like coming home, says Sæther.
Sæther has long been part of the Riddu family and has, among other things, been responsible for the club concept IDJA - Sámi Club Night. She has also been a production assistant at Riddu Riđđu for several years.
- I hope I can continue the good work the producers before me have done, where we create a festival that is inclusive and promotes indigenous people from all over the world, who dare to be an important voice in the social debate in Sápmi and which is a safe meeting place for everyone . At the same time, I hope I have useful experiences to contribute, which can develop the festival to become even better.
Sajje Solbakk, festival manager of Riddu Riđđu, is pleased about the appointment:
- We had many qualified applicants, and we are delighted that Erle will be our new producer! She has a wide network inside and outside Sápmi which will be a good resource for us. Erle has solid organizer skills and knows the festival well. As a bonus, she is also a joy to work with!
