DROP-IN: Beading Workshop – Create Your Own Beaded Keychain
Join Indigenous beaders from the High Water Drum Group from the sməlqmix (Similkameen) Territory in the Interior Salish region of Canada for a hands-on introduction to beadwork.
Participants will learn basic beading techniques while creating their own small beaded keychain. Although each Indigenous Nation has its own unique artistic traditions and designs, this style of beadwork is widely practiced by Indigenous Peoples across what is now Canada and the United States.
Throughout the workshop, participants will gain insight into the artistry, creativity, and cultural significance of beadwork as it continues to be practiced, adapted, and shared within Indigenous communities today.
No previous beading experience is required, and all materials needed to complete the project is provided.
Come learn, create, and take home a handmade keepsake inspired by the traditions of the Interior Salish people.
This workshop is by the tipi at Riddu Siida.
